Our artworks travel…
Works from the permanent collections are regularly requested on loan for exhibitions at other institutions in Belgium or abroad.
Franz Marc’s Les chevaux en pâturage is on loan until January 24, 2027, to the Kunstsammlung NRW in Düsseldorf, Germany, for the exhibition “Franz Marc: Die Suche nach einer besseren Welt”. This fragile work is rarely displayed on the gallery walls due to its conservation requirements.

Jean Brusselmans’ La Moisson, painted in 1934, has taken its place in the galleries of Bozar in Brussels. Restored for the occasion, it forms part of the retrospective exhibition dedicated to the artist, which runs until 31 January 2027.
Leonard Defrance’s ‘faiseuses de guêtres’ has left the museum’s storerooms to feature in the exhibition ‘18th-century costume at Versailles: from finery to rags’, on display at the Lambinet Museum in Versailles until 14 February 2027.
Claude Monet’s Le Bassin du Commerce, Le Havre, following an exhibition in Le Havre, has returned to the museum’s galleries… but not to its usual place in the permanent collection. It is now on display as part of the exhibition ‘Impressionism: A Belgian History’ until 29 March 2027.
Emile Claus’s Le vieux jardinier has joined the exhibition “De tiende tentoonstelling” at Het Kunstuur in Mechelen, which runs through June 13, 2027.
